Saturday evening was a lovely time to walk along the beach at Caloundra. A couple of wedding parties thought it was a great place to take photos.
Clambering over the rocks and admiring the sea life took me back to my childhood.
Those of us on shore were madly taking photos of this large cruise ship that seemed to come very close to land - no doubt the passengers were just as madly taking photos of us!

Gallery B
Hidden behind a hardware store in Newmarket is Gallery B - a gift store stuffed with bags, shoes, mugs, scarves, etc, and a cafe. There is even a view.
The cakes are all made in house. I had a lemon and passionfruit cake...mmmm. The china is gorgeous - look at this sugar bowl...

Pool Progress
After cleaning out the gunk and acid washing the shell, re-filling started. It does look a whole lot better!

The Sapphires
Last Friday night I saw The Sapphires at Southbank. You can hire large bean bags, or deck chairs, buy food or wine...something different.
Refreshing
In this age of computers and a multitude of fonts typefaces, clip art etc, it's nice to see a good old fashioned hand lettered sign - appropriately, on butcher's paper!

Queensland Literary Awards
Following April's announcement by Campbell Newman that there would no longer be a Queensland Premier's Literary Award, the community mobilised and the Queensland Literary Awards were established. The awards were announced in early September, and last night at Avid Reader was a formal thank you to those involved. There were readings and a panel discussion about patronage of the arts. Very stimulating and thought provoking. And very funny too at times.
